Why Affiliate Earnings Are Low For India Based Websites

Written by Mega Champ on March 8, 2009 – 12:44 am -

I live in India and can safely say that Internet shopping in India is evolving but it will take time for it to reach to a level like in US or European Countries.

Why, Well Lets Point the reasons :

1. A big majority of Indian Population, still don’t have internet access, so internet shopping is out of the question.

2. Those who do have internet connection limit there online presence to only mail checking and some causal browsing.

3. And then there are few who do some internet shopping but that is limited to booking train, flight or movie tickets.

4. Lastly we have the breed that Indian webmaster are looking for, people who actually buy stuff from net.

So, even if you have a website with good amount of India traffic, there is pretty less chance of earning big bucks by affiliate marketing and finding those people who are feel comfortable buying the stuff from net.

This is contrast to what happens in US and European countries, there people do major shopping through internet and Internet presence is there in almost every household. So, clearly US based websites have a edge over Indian websites when it comes over to affiliate marketing.

This even applies to PPC. As for the same reason Adsense pays less for clicks coming from countries like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka etc. as conversion rates must be very low comparing to US based clicks.

So, it will surely take time for Internet Shopping to become a rage in India, and till then Indian webmasters will have to work little hard to get more of traffic from US or European Countries in order to increase their earnings.

Right Time To Enter Into Affiliate Marketing

Written by Mega Champ on December 12, 2008 – 10:00 am -

*This is as per my experience it may stand otherwise for you.

Last month i was persuaded to put some affiliate advertisement in place of adsense ads in my blog, thinking that i will earn more then what i am getting from adsense. Joined clickbank and started displaying some affiliate 125*125 ads. At that time traffic to my blog was around 2000 visits per day, which i thought was enough to bring me some affiliate sales.

But i was proven wrong, i kept the ad for almost 2 weeks and no sales came through not even a lead. And on top of that i was loosing my adsense clicks. People were clicking on the affiliate ad but were not buying the product.

I know that affiliate sales will earn much more more then adsense ads, hence they are not easy to get. But all said and done, according to me one should try affiliates once you have gained a decent amount of traffic. Well let say 10,000 visits per day, will be the time when i will again try with affiliate ads, till then adsense+kontera will do the job.

This was my story, will like to hear your experience, So, if you want to share your thoughts please comment or mail me at megachamp@megachamp.com.
