The IndiBlogger team is happy to announce that the Delhi Bloggers Bloc along with Blog Design Studio are organizing the first ever WordCamp in India for all WordPress enthusiasts and for those who want to know more about WordPress! This event is being held on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of The Delhi Bloggers Bloc.

For those who don’t already know – WordPress is a state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. This blogging platform is so feature rich and easy to use that it’s proving to be competition to full fledged content management systems.

Matt Mullenweg (Founder of WordPress) is going to be a part of this event. Isn’t she adorable

Personally i never understood the meaning of using ads in the middle of a post. I can understand the ads in the start and end of blogpost, but in the middle of content seems lets say weird to me.

And i don’t know but it seems to be a very popular method and many “top bloggers” promote it as a good way to increase those ad clicks and hence your earnings.

Lets analyze the situation I am talking about. Imagine I am reading a post in your blog, while reading suddenly i come across a ad which is placed in the middle of post, now there are 2 scenarios which can happen due to this

First Scenario:

I like what the ad says, clicks on it and here i am going away from your blog. It means, whatever blogger wrote below the ad is completely waste as i wont be reading it further, which is bad for the blogger who must have worked hard to write a good big post.
End

Second Scenario:

I will say wtf, what the hell is a ad doing in the middle of that post, as it ruins the whole reading experience.
End

In my opinion the blogger loses in both scenarios. In first his/her hard worked content gets unnoticed and second makes him or her look greedy for money.

However i will point out that, there is absolutely nothing wrong in showing ads in your blogs, but please choose to display them at positions where they don’t hinder the reader experience.

Well to honest, i have never won anything online till now, took part in many contest but no luck. That is why i hardly even go the winner list and check whether my name is there or not, cos till now 100% of times it was not there.

Well, today things changed a little bit, like always browsing one of my favourite blogs Shoemoney.com and noticed that my name was there in the daily contest winners. Check out the name in the pic below(Click to enlarge the picture).

I was well shocked to say the least. Checked out the contest details, i will get a shoemoney.com tshirt and my name will added to the Bigger Comment Contest where you can win coolest gadgets you can imagine. Last time it was brand new MacBook Air And this time is Apple MacBook.

But still there are some problems, i was supposed to get a mail from shoemoney.com, on how to claim the prize and all, but never received it. I just mailed the shoemoney staff about the matter and i hope it will be resolved soon. Will update the entry on the developments.

Right now its celebration time

Everyday i see people selling websites and domain names based on new movies releases. Like there was a website based on Transformer 2, which is coming next year. The guy claimed he is getting pretty good traffic and earning few $ everyday.

That was one case, people who are into deep domain and website flipping business do this all the time. They buy the domain name as soon as movie name is announced and set up a small blog or a website about the movie, with ofcourse PPC ads like adsense or adbrite, filling up most of the space. A quick way to make money indeed.

From the movie release in theaters to its release in dvd, you can see a decline in traffic for that movie website. And after a period of time that website will be completely worthless and considering negligible traffic.

If you still want to get in this movie niche, few tips:

1. First and Foremost, check out the movie blogs and see which upcoming movie they say will make big on earnings.

2. A movie which will be released worldwide will eventually get more traffic.

3. Finding the exact domain for the movie will be little hard as domain sharks are always buying domains in bulk, but don’t worry settle for some domain name around the movie.

4. After getting the domain and setting up the website, try to include as much as possible about the movie. Trailers, wallpapers, start cast star cast bios etc.

5. If you can’t find much info about the movie which in production, you can always try to write about the star cast previous adventures and gossip around them, to keep the website alive.

6. After a while you will be able to decide whether to sell or keep the website by seeing the earnings from advertisement. So decide carefully your next step.

So, if you are able to earn good either by selling domain /whole website + domain, or by displaying the ads, it can turn out to be a good+profitable experience, otherwise most of the time you might end up with a hole in the pocket.

I am thinking of doing a case study on this movie niche, will inform when i start it and how i fare. Lets see how it goes .

I hold a blog about mobile phones, and i work on it almost 2 hours a day to post the latest happening in the mobile world. That blog is being around 3 months now and it is starting to see some good traffic. Now as all the specs of blog is done, i want to come to the main point “The Power of Big Blogs” i see everyday and how Google give them more priority over others.

To be specific, i am posting almost daily about a mobile handset, and development around it, and i am on the first page of Google for that device but not the first entry and why because some 2-3 months back a big blogger made a post about that device and moved on. But Google still gives preference to that post rather then mine, where i post almost every 2-3 days about that device.

And the post is not a rant, what i want to point out that if you have a good established blog, you can post anything and Google will give the preference to that rather then any blog which is comparatively new and may be working only in that niche.

This is how Google works and This is the Power of Big Blogs.

Although the guy in the video doesn’t seem to be Bruce less according to me, but his skills with nunchuck are AMAZING to say the least. I really wonder how can anyone do that
