Finally i removed the alexa rank and google page rank tracking addon from firefox. It was turning out to be such a bad habit of checking out the page rank, alexa rank for each and every website i visit, including mine.

And even though i know the page rank gets updated after a quarter or so(as i have heard), still first thing i will do, is checking out page rank of my blogs. Finally i got over this stupidity and removed the addon, and now i feel better:-).

From now, i will check out the stats only once in a week just to see the progress

I am a avid reader of blogs started by people, who are very successful in the online industry and are making a great amount of money with their online ventures. Reasons, well first is inspiration, their astounding success always inspires me to work hard, when i really get frustrated. Second, their valuable advices on various topics, they are seasoned bloggers who are into this market for very long and know what will click for his/her readers.

Well that said and done, its really good to follow footsteps of a successful blogger to repeat his/success story, but there are few things you have to care about.

Like once i was reading blog of one of my favorite blogger, and he wrote how he bought 10 websites for around $1000 websites in one week and made more then $5000 from those websites in a 3 month time.

Similarly, same guy once wrote a post on how he bought around 70-80 domains and parked them on sedo and earned great amount of profits from it.

So, after reading all this i was also thinking of doing the something same, and big profit dreams were running around me. But when the excitement settled i gave it a long thought, and found out it was certainly not my cup of cake for the reasons described below :

1. That guy earns 1000’s of dollar every month, and even if something went wrong in his ventures it wont affect him much, but a similar loss will be very serious for me, as $1000 is a very big amount for me and i think for all starters. Yes you learn by making mistakes but just try to avoid costly mistakes and don’t get dazzled by other people success.

2. Buying sites is just not the final step in getting profits, there is much work to be done after buying them in order to make them successful. No matter how much work you do, there are always some tricks of the trade which are held by successful bloggers which they don’t share, And which is absolutely right in all sense. No body will share his secret successful recipe. So, its not fixed you will be able to get the same success. Hard work pays but in online business, smart work takes a cut above. And learning how to work smart takes a time, so learn learn and learn.

3. Successful bloggers are well known in web world and they have access to so many people, which help in making their ventures a success. They know right people for the job and as a starter you wont be having such leverage. So, try to make few friends and research before getting into something big.

4. Adding to the point above, successful bloggers don’t sweat out to make everything work, they have the money and they outsource a good amount of work. As they have money as their disposal but not the time. And for a person who is just starting, outsourcing means extra burden on his/her limited funds.

But after reading these points, don’t think that its nearly impossible to make money online, Yes its hard for starters but you have to be patient and learn everyday. I am doing the same and will add that my work is starting to show results. My earnings are not very big but yes they are increasing.

So, before jumping into something just give it a deep thought and see both sides of the coin. From my side best of luck to all

Breaks in three submarine cables which link Europe and the Middle East have disrupted Internet and international telephone services in parts of the Middle East and South Asia, officials said on Saturday.

When i read this, i regretted all the calls i made to customer care of my ISP(BSNL) regarding the crappy internet speed i was getting this weekend. Well, my ISP was also unaware of the problem(i am not surprised).

And the news said the slow speeds will continue till 25dec, which is pretty bad. Lets hope it gets fixed before that.

Currently i have 3 active blogs including this one, and along with working hard to keep them updated with good content, I also search on how to increase the revenue from blogs. Been using Adsense + Kontera for long and they are giving me decent returns. But after hearing from many of my friends on how they are getting success with Chitika, i am also thinking of giving Chitika a try and see how everything works out.

Things i always look out when i reach out to other publisher networks

1. Their ads shouldn’t hinder the user experience on my blogs. Because when i visit any sites and see them stuffed with ads, it really puts me off. So, i dont want to put readers of my blogs to same ordeal. That is why i always choose the ads which embeds in the site content graciously.

2. Second they can be used with Adsense. This is one of the most important point.

3. They should have a good reputation in the market, no payment delays etc.

So, Chitika fits the bill in all the above points. Here is example of chitika ads which get displayed in websites and blogs.

Chitika is also running a premium ads campaign, following video gives a more clear picture on that.

Looks promising, will update when i sign with it and how it fares.

Due to unknown reasons adsense ads were not displaying on any of my sites. First i freaked out and thought there goes my earnings and adsense account. But then i logged into adsense account it was working fine.

So, i think it was part of some adsense update or something because of which ads were not getting displayed. However i may add that this was only applicable for Indian based sites as i checked out some big sites based in US, ads were working fine, then checked out some big Indian sites, ads were not working.

Anyways ads are now displaying and i am happy .

If you are into websites or blogging, you must have heard about Adsense unless you were living under the rock. And if you are using adsense ppc ads, you definitely know about how so many people get banned by Adsense everyday.

There is hardly anyone using adsense, who doesn’t have a fear of loosing his/her account, including me. I have heard so many stories on webmaster forums, where people come up everyday claiming that they were banned by Adsense. Some claim they didn’t do anything wrong, and didn’t break any TOS, some agree that yes they were stupid enough to like clicking on their own ads, to earn quick money.

People doing things wrong and getting banned seems fair enough, but people who claim that they were right all along but still were banned puts a insecurity in everyone’s mind.

So what could have happen, which led to the “fair/right” people account getting banned, well only thing which comes to my mind is click bombing, where someone who wants to harm you personally will continuously click on the ads which may lead to problems with adsense and hence a possible ban.

But I really don’t think adsense people will just jump to the point, that all the way you were doing fine, but one day you wake up, and start clicking mindlessly on your ads. There must be something else also, some logic which is not known to anyone else.

So, what can one do to save yourself from getting banned, well

1. Follow the Adsense TOS religiously.

2. Don’t brag too much about your “$100″ per day earnings, if they are totally dependent on adsense. In the worst case scenario it may very well create jealousy among your competitor and result in a possible click bombing.

3. Don’t try to be a web police of sorts, telling everyone in the forum how a person is breaching adsense tos and displaying illegal content on his/her website. Its not your job, if he/she is doing something wrong, their adsense account will be eventually banned. But that person may be very well get offended and may cause harm to your website.

Well these all things i follow as of now(2nd one is not applicable to me still ). And i really hope google/adsense should come with something, to save their publishers.

Yesterday by sheer luck i was able to grab the domain iphonewp.com. By seeing the craze floating around iPhone, i was lucky enough to get this domain. But I need to develop it properly, considering there are already so many iPhone wallpaper sites ahead of me.

I always wanted to have a wallpaper website and you will see that this phenomenon is very common among who are new to either blogging or building websites. They will always think of getting a wallpaper or video site running. As they are most easy to built, almost every one have a huge collection of wallpapers in their computer. So, they just upload them and have a fully functional website, there can be some trademark issues but we will leave that discussion to some other day. Same is with video websites, you can embed codes from so many video sharing websites, youtube, metacafe, vimeo and what not.

And I share the same thoughts as well, i have a video based domain as well, but its just sitting there and collecting virtual dust.

I will build both video and wallpaper website, just for flipping. Believe it or not a website based on wallpapers or videos are easiest to sell.
